Tempting Marigold
Marigolds represent uplifting feelings and energy in
contemporary western society. The flowers' flamboyant yellow, orange, and red
hues are associated with the Sun's warmth, joy, happiness, and prosperity.
Many dishes benefit from the flowers' splash of color, which
also adds a subtle flavour to pesto, soups, and beverages. Marigold is a
natural dye that the food industry uses to give cheese and butter a more
enticing golden hue. Some teas also contain the dried blossoms to enhance their
visual appeal.
Marigolds Meaning
An important component of the Day of the Dead ofrenda is
flowers, which stand for the transience of life. Even though a wide variety of
flowers are used in Day of the Dead festivities, the marigold has emerged as
the festival's official national flower.
Due to their representation of the sun, which stands for
brightness and uplifting energy, marigolds are a common flower in Hindu
ceremonies. They are also linked to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, who in
Hindu mythology are regarded as the perfect pair.
History Of Marigold
Marigolds, a New World native and one of the sacred flowers
of the Aztecs, travelled 3,000 miles north from their birthplace by crossing
the Atlantic Ocean twice. The challenging trip is evidence of marigolds'
tenacious toughness. One of the most common annuals cultivated in North
American gardens today is the marigold.
